Well, if you were tuned into the Detroit Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game, you got more than just football action for your holiday viewing. Halftime brought a major musical moment courtesy of Detroit’s own Jack White, who treated fans to a performance that included a truly unexpected special guest.

The former White Stripes frontman started his set with “That’s How I’m Feeling,” pulled from his latest solo album, “No Name.” He then dusted off a fan favorite from his White Stripes days, “Hello Operator,” originally featured on their “De Stijl” album. But just as the track was unfolding, the energy in the stadium ramped up several notches.

In a move that caught pretty much everyone by surprise, fellow Detroit icon Eminem walked onto the field, joining White mid-song. Yes, Marshall Mathers himself! Eminem then dropped into his powerhouse track “’Till I Collapse,” delivering his famous verses over White’s live instrumental. It was a fantastic, albeit brief, fusion of rock and hip-hop, highlighting the incredible musical heritage of the Motor City with two of its biggest names sharing a major stage.

After Eminem’s electrifying cameo, White smoothly transitioned back into his set, closing things out with the massive anthem “Seven Nation Army.” Adding a final touch of local allegiance, White was even seen playing a custom guitar designed to mimic the Lions’ alternate uniform helmet. It was a memorable halftime show, truly celebrating Detroit’s vibrant culture and musical legacy on one of the biggest days for American football.
