RANI | “Candy Store”
Working with the Amsterdam-based production team Rock-A-Tune and Guus Mulder, Dutch artist, RANI brings a renewed purpose to 2023 and a sound that elevates her into the company of the best young artists working today. She just released a new track, “Candy Store,” her first on Snafu Records. This song is the autobiographical tale of a love interest who gave her all the signs he liked her, but wanting to remain on her guard, she played hard to get to see what his intentions were. This track is definitely a vibe. The instrumentals are catchy and pair well with her vocals. She has so much power behind her voice. It is really refreshing to hear it front and center in this track. ROSIE | “Startover”
Seeking to create a safe place online and through her music, ROSIE’s willingness to get real struck a chord with millions. Her stripped back breakup ballad, “Never the 1”, amassed over 15 million views on TikTok highlighting ROSIE’s songwriting prowess. The New York native has an uncanny ability to turn negative experiences like loss, betrayal, and criticism into jetpack fueled motivation. She just released a new track, “Startover.” The instrumentals are intriguing and pair well with her vocals. She has such a beautiful voice. She does a great job at showing off her range throughout the song, all while delivering the emotion of the story. Definitely a standout this week. Make sure to add this one to your playlists.
Ferester | “Here Right Now”
Ferester is Spencer O’Grady, a 23 year-old British/American artist, songwriter and producer from Aberdeen, Scotland, now based in Glasgow. Having developed a passion for music from a young age, Spencer has been constantly improving in both songwriting and production, making music predominantly out of his living room in Glasgow. He just released a new track, “Here Right Now.” What a catchy track. The song starts out minimal but grows in intensity throughout. His vocals are at the forefront of the song, which is smart, considering how strong his vocals are. He does a great job at keeping up the energy of the song, all while never losing the energy of it. Definitely a standout this week. Make sure to add this one to your playlists.
Katie Boeck | “Over Again”
Nashville-based Katie Boeck is a singer/songwriter and actor who has also appeared on Broadway in Duncan Sheik’s musical “Spring Awakening” where she shared the lead role of Wendla. She just released a new track, “Over Again.” This is more of an acoustic driven track which focuses heavily on her vocals. She has such a beautiful voice that is on full display here. Her tone and delivery are both incredible. Absolutely stunning performance. Make sure to add this one to your playlists.
Emei | “Scatterbrain”
With dripping vocals, colorful lyrics, and slicing wit, viral alt-pop artist Emei has rapidly built up a fan base over the past year. Leaning on over a decade of stage experience, Emei invites audiences into her world, leading them through her hyper-relatable musings on young adult life. She just released an insanely catchy single, “Scatterbrain.” The melody is super infectious. Her vocals are stunning. Her tone and delivery are both impressive. This is such a catchy track, that you will have it on repeat for a while. Make sure to add this one to your playlists.
