Winona Oak Releases New EP, Void | LISTEN HERE!

Winona

Swedish artist Winona Oak is gearing up for some brand new music in the form of her new EP, Void, out today, May 3rd, 2024. Here is what she had to say about the new project.

“Last year was by far the worst year of my life. When my mom passed away, I lost a part of myself that I will never get back. I’ve never felt so empty, so far from the person that I used to be. Living with grief is like learning how to live with half a heart. Everything is a constant reminder of what could have been. This EP was created in the middle of the chaos, with a void inside my chest. All the lyrics are raw and unfiltered, there’s parts of me in these songs that will tell you more about me than I could ever explain.”

Winona continues, “I feel very lucky to have such beautiful collaborators and friends that made it possible for me to be completely vulnerable. Every songwriter and producer on this record has played an important part of my journey and I could never thank them enough for helping me turn my pain into art. I hope you will love ‘Void’ as much as I do.”

Background

Winona Oak‘s origins trace back to the serene Nordic forests of Sweden, specifically the idyllic Sollerön – aptly named the Island of the Sun, which serves as a muse for her new EP. Raised amidst nature’s embrace her upbringing was as enchanting as her surroundings. As a trained horse acrobat, she cultivated a unique childhood, expressing her creativity through poetry, songwriting, and mastering the violin and piano from an early age.

After relocating to Stockholm to pursue her musical aspirations, Winona Oak diligently refined her skills, eventually securing a deal with Atlantic/Neon Gold Records. Her trajectory took a significant turn when she crossed paths with Australian electronic luminary What So Not, leading to their collaborative efforts on singles like “Better,” “Stuck In Orbit,” and “Beautiful,” where Winona’s presence as a featured artist shone. Subsequently, she joined forces with The Chainsmokers on their gold-certified hit single “Hope,” before making waves with her solo debut, “He Don’t Love Me,” which resonated widely.

In 2020, Winona unveiled her debut EP “Closure,” followed by the critically acclaimed “SHE.” Winona delivered a poignant rendition of the title track from “SHE” on CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘s #PLAYATHOME series. The year 2021 witnessed Winona collaborating with emerging bedroom pop sensation ELIO on “Nobody Loves Me” and unveiling the graceful and introspective track “Old Insecurities.”

Most recently, Winona signed with Nettwerk Music Group.
