skyve is a rapper first and foremost, but he has never been one to stay in a single lane. He also sings and has spent about three years learning guitar, and his urge to perform traces back to an unexpected source: the singing animals of the animated Sing movies. His earlier releases leaned mostly toward rap, and he sees branching into new styles as a matter of genuine curiosity rather than putting on a show, a mindset shaped by his dad’s belief that you have to keep growing. A full album is in the works.
Eternal Time
“Eternal Time” started life as an older demo, and producer Jordan Lyles helped him rebuild it into a finished track, adding guitars, drums, and extra layers on top of the original sketch. It opens as a guitar-driven indie rock tune, with bright guitar lines riding a steady beat, before skyve slides into a rap verse partway through, while backing vocals with a soulful R&B touch tie the two worlds together.
The whole thing has a real summertime glow. The production is clean and glossy, a few electronic flourishes sparkle around the pop hooks, and skyve’s relaxed, unforced delivery keeps it rolling along without ever breaking a sweat. It is the sort of track made for a sunny afternoon with nowhere in particular to be.
For all that good-mood energy, there is something heavier under the surface. The lyrics wrestle with how hard it can be to let something go, and setting that struggle against such a sunny arrangement gives the song a nice bit of tension. At under two minutes, it is over almost before you know it, which only makes you want to hit replay.
Final Thoughts
“Eternal Time” is a short, sweet, hook-filled snapshot of an artist who refuses to be boxed in. If the upcoming album keeps mixing things up like this, it should be well worth the wait.
