skyve is a rapper, singer, and guitarist who moves freely between indie pop, rock, and hip-hop, rarely settling in one corner of the musical map for long. Each new release seems to show off a slightly different side of him, and this one leans toward the heavier end.
Stuck This Way
Where some of his songs keep things breezy, “Stuck This Way” digs in. Thick, chugging guitar riffs and hard-hitting modern drums drive it forward, while a synth line keeps time underneath and nudges the song along. There is a hint of power-pop in the hooks and a bit of hazy cloud-rap atmosphere around the edges, but at heart this is a guitar track with real weight behind it.
skyve’s voice is the anchor. It sits low and warm, with an unhurried way of landing each line that makes the lyrics easy to follow, yet he can lean in hard when the moment calls for it. Backing vocals and ad-libs pop up to underline the big moments, and the lyrics feel sincere and personal while knowing when to hold back. Everything builds toward the hook, which is the clear high point, and the song wraps up in under three minutes, tight and to the point. The mix is tidy too, so every layer comes through clearly.
Final Thoughts
“Stuck This Way” shows the heavier side of skyve, and it suits him. Put it next to “Eternal Time” and you get a good sense of just how much ground he can cover.
