Bleach Dreamer has quietly built one of the more consistent dream pop catalogues out there, songs like “Paradise Cove,” “Last Train To Midnight,” and the “Surrender” EP all working from the same playbook: warm synths, plenty of atmosphere, and a real ear for melody. “Girl’s Night” keeps that streak going, a two-song release built around a partnership with vocalist Niki Grossi, whose range does a lot of the heavy lifting across both tracks.

“Hits Me Like A Thunder” is the higher-energy half of the pair, built on a bouncy, almost nocturnal groove that owes a clear debt to 80s club music. Grossi’s vocal sits right at the front of the mix, and she’s got the range to make it work, sliding easily between the song’s softer verses and its bigger, brighter hooks. There’s more going on underneath than it lets on at first listen too, a punchy bassline and tight rhythm section doing the actual work of holding the track together while the synths get to have all the fun on top. “Hold On” slows the pace down and gets more introspective, trading some of that dancefloor energy for something a little more vulnerable, closer to straight dream pop. The guitar tone gets weirder here too, a warped, wobbly texture that adds just enough grit to keep the song from floating away entirely.
What ties the two together is the emotional arc running underneath both of them: the rush of falling for someone fast, then the harder question of whether you actually stick it out once things get complicated. “Girl’s Night” wears its 80s influences openly, dream pop, dark wave, and post-punk all showing up somewhere in the mix, without ever feeling like it’s just doing a costume party.
