‘The Voice’ Winner, Chevel Shepherd Announces Engagement

On her 21st birthday, Chevel Shepherd announced her engagement to Junior Garcia on social media.

The Voice season 15 winner and Team Kelly Clarkson member, wrote in a heartfelt message, “You’re looking at future Mrs. Garcia!! God put us together and He sure did bless me with the most amazing, loving, kind man ever. I love you so much, and I’m so excited to marry you and spend forever with you.” She then thanked Isaiah Grijalva for taking the sweet photographs.

In the photos, Junior is down on his knee offering a ring to Chevel against a mountainous backdrop. The second photo shows the two in an embrace after she said yes.

They Recently Celebrated 1 year Together

In April, the Team Kelly Clarkson member commemorated the couple’s one year anniversary together in an Instagram post. “1 year with you my love, and it has flown by. I’m so happy I get to spend forever with you. My life has been better since you came into it, and I’m so happy you’re mine. I love you. Happy 1 year”

Chevel Shepherd Released a Homage to Loretta Lynn

In 2021, Chevel released her debut EP Everybody’s Got A Story, which reflected a traditional country sound. Recorded in Nashville the set features cuts written by acclaimed songwriters, Kacey MusgravesShane McAnallyBrandy Clark and more.

“I was singing almost before I could walk, surrounded by the music that my parents listened to – country music and classic rock,” Chevel shared at the time. “Loretta Lynn, Reba, Tanya Tucker and The Chicks are some of my musical heroes. What they have accomplished in their careers inspires me to stay true to who I am – embrace my traditional sound, style and love for storytelling.”

Chevel Won The Voice in 2018

Chevel won The Voice in the fall of 2018 as a 16 year old on Team Kelly Clarkson. The singer, who described on the show a life in rurua New Mexico fixing vintage cars with her dad, turned three chairs during her Blind Audition where she sang “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry. She performed songs like The Chicks’ “Little White Church” Kacey Musgraves‘ “Space Cowboy,” Loretta Lynn’s “You’re Lookin’ at Country” and The Judds “Rockin’ with the Rhythm of the Rain” before taking home the crown.
