Lockwood Barr just released a new album, “Christmas in Memphis.” This album starts off with “Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow.” Such a classy rendition of it. Instrumentals and Vocals are strong. Lockwood Barr’s voice is something to be desired. It makes you want to hear her sing everything in the book. Hearing “Let it Snow,” makes me want to hear her live in a Christmas Concert. Great start to this release. “Christmas in Memphis,” is up next. This one is caught me off guard with how good it was. Her voice blends perfectly with her male counterpart in this song. Their melodies are spot on. At the time of this review, I have already listened to it 8 times. Now 9. Now on to “Christmas Time is Here.” This is another bluesy sounding song. Beautiful vocals again.
I am now convinced that I will be playing this throughout the entire holiday season. “White Christmas,” is up next on this wonderful EP. A lot of people slow this song down whenever they cover it but that wasn’t the case in this release. Honestly, I could listen to it both ways. The background vocals just add to the playfulness of this rendition. She is such a strong vocalist and I am in love with this Christmas EP. Sadly, the journey has come to an end with “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” This one starts out acapella to build some drama. It works and I was instantly hooked. The guitars later on in the song are a wonderful addition. This song was a strong end to a perfect Christmas release. Color me impressed. Everyone should go download this as soon as you can.
