James Dupré | “Home and Away”

James Dupree

James Dupré, named one of “10 Country Artists You Need to Know,” by Rolling Stone Magazine, possesses an exceptionally stellar, pitch perfect, baritone voice and has spent a great deal of time sharing that voice with his fans on social media platforms like YouTube, where he’s garnered over 11 million views. The former EMT-Paramedic is a Bayou Chicot, Louisiana native who currently lives in Nashville.

One might think that it all started when millions of viewers saw James get the highly coveted 4-chair turn, earning a spot with Adam Levine’s team on NBC’s The Voice, but this was not his first taste of fame. Before The Voice, James’ high visibility on YouTube captured the attention of Ellen DeGeneres, landing him a guest appearance on The Ellen Show.

James Dupre is back with his new single, “Home and Away.” Right off the bat, this track feels like a modern Country Song, with some 90’s influences scattered throughout. The lyrics really tell a captivating story, which is refreshing, especially with a lot of today’s Country Music.

I’m home / Sipping on bourbon and ice / Wondering where she is tonight / Knowing I’ll never know / It’s a losing game. Man, we were on a damn good run / I thought she would always stay / Now I’m home, and she’s away.”

James vocals are absolutely stunning throughout the song. He manages to capture the emotion of “Home and Away,” and really delivers it in a way that will keep his fans pressing the repeat button.

“If you break up in a small town, everyone wants to know your business. It’s especially hard when you can’t go to the high school football home opener because you can’t deal with all the questions and attention,” Dupré told Country Now of the meaning behind “Home And Away.” “Instead, you grab your favorite bottle of bourbon and just stay home.”
