About Payson Lewis and Leah Lewis
Based in Los Angeles, Payson Lewis grew up in Philadelphia, where he taught himself to play the piano and participated in school choirs and musicals. Shortly after moving to LA, Lewis found success on NBC’s The Sing-Off where he finished in the Top 4. His musical career has spanned across the globe, performing in Taiwan and Korea, starring in theatrical productions in Chicago and Las Vegas, singing in multiple major motion picture soundtracks, as well as acting in television shows such as; Jane the Virgin, How I Met Your Mother and The People vs. OJ Simpson.
A jack of all trades, singer, actress, and model Leah Lewis is known for her roles in The Half of It on Netflix, Nancy Drew on the CW, and the upcoming PIXAR movie Elemental. Heavily influenced by DAWES, The 1975, Lizzy McAlpine, and more.
Although he was unready to release the track, due to the vulnerability of the pain the song carried, Lewis first wrote “Back In Time” in 2012. Comforted by finding a partner to sing the song with, Leah, his girlfriend at the time, helped to capture the vision that getting hurt in a relationship is a two-way street. It eased the tensions that Lewis felt at the time towards putting the song out into the world. Leah delivered “the sense of love between the two voices,” Lewis says. “Back In Time” represents both love and pain in one song, as Leah and Payson decided to amicably split up shortly after completing the song.
The track was written by Payson Lewis, produced and mixed by Ben Soldate with additional production by Melomatic, and mastered by Eric Boulanger (OneRepublic, Rachel Platten, Selena Gomez). The song features Rob Humphreys on drums, Adam Tressler on guitar, Ben Soldate on bass, and background vocals by Kenton Chen and Rachel Bearer.
The new track is really well done. It is a perfect example of two voices coming together to complete a truly beautiful song. Their voices blend very well together. Their harmonies are on point. Production is also top notch as well. Definitely a strong performance that a lot of people are going to relate to. Make sure to add this one to your playlists.
