The Mercy Stone is back with a new single, “Unlocked.” Check out the full track and review below!
The Mercy Stone is a 12-piece ensemble that is breaking the boundaries between the worlds of rock, jazz, and classical music. Performing all original instrumental compositions, The Mercy Stone’s music possesses all the intricacies of a finely tuned contemporary-classical chamber ensemble and the energy of a high-octane rock band. Live performances feature an amplified string quintet, electric guitar, drums, marimba, and a saxophone quartet.
The Mercy Stone weaves a sonic tapestry of complex rhythms, beautiful melodic lines, and free improvisation which is incredibly compelling upon first hearing yet begs for deeper listening to reveal the many layers of sound in each piece. The manner in which their music seamlessly and organically integrates diverse musical genres into each composition is unparalleled. Their first album, Ghettoblaster, is a complete game-changer in the world of classical-crossover music and, in the broader sense, musical fusion as a whole.
The new single, “Unlocked,” is such an impressive piece of work. It features some strong vocals, and even stronger instrumentals in the background. The harmonies are really well done as well. If you are a fan of genuinely good music, make sure to add this one to your playlist.
