We are back with another amazing interview with the incredibly talented Callie Twisselman. Check it out below!
CASS from Music On The Rox – Congrats on your debut EP having over 1 million streams! That is an impressive accomplishment. How does it feel to know that your music has reached that many people?
Callie Twisselman – Thank you! It’s so amazing knowing people are loving the song’s! Never thought I’d have over a million streams! So cool!
Your debut single “Two Hands,” has over 500,000 global streams and now you have a new single, “Cowboy.” Can you give us some background on the new song?
My current single Cowboy is a song I wrote about the ‘cowboy’ way of life and how some people try to mimic the image — the “all hat and no cattle” type, if you will haha. Growing up in the country and around cowboys is really where the inspiration came from. The song was originally inspired by my dad, and then when I took it into the studio my producer and I decided we wanted to spice it up a bit and put a love interest in there. But, it’s such a fun song and one that hits so close to home for me!
It is pretty cool to hear the story behind the song. How long have you been performing?
I’ve been performing since I was 10 years old. So a while, lol! I started out singing the National Anthem at events and then things just progressed from there. I started playing the guitar then writing my own songs, and the rest is history!
So, you grew up in California and now spend some time in Tennessee as well. How has Country Music influenced your life?
I grew up on the Central Coast of California and now reside mainly in Tennessee but go home quite often. Country music has always been a big part of my life. I grew up in a household who lived and breathed country music and what the music represents. I suppose being in the country and living that lifestyle has a huge role in that as well. But also, my mother was a country singer in a local band, so it was inevitable that I would grow to love it too.
One thing that all artists have in common is who they look up to musically? Who are some of your musical inspirations?
There are so many inspirations! I grew up listening to not only country but pop, rock you name it. I love music and was inspired by a lot of artists in different genres. Some of them being, George Strait, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey and the list can go on.
Those are some really great role models. If you could do a duet with anyone, who would that be?
If I could do a duet with anyone it would be Ed Sheeran! I just love his music and songwriting. Plus he is bound to get like a billion streams so there’s that, lol. But, if we’re just talking about the country genre, it would be Cody Johnson. I just love what he is doing, and I think we are cut from the same cloth, so I think it’d be pretty cool.
What advice do you have for someone trying to make it into the music business?
My advice would be to stay dedicated, have patience and love what you do! There’s no guarantee in the business that it’s going to work, but if you love it, then either way you win!
Awesome advice. What would you like to say to your fans that have stuck with you throughout your musical journey?
I would say thank you so much for sticking by me through the years! I couldn’t do it without you and all of your support! You’re the reason I’m able to do what I love and I am beyond grateful.
Just want to say a huge thanks to Callie for doing this interview. Make sure to stay tuned to Music On The Rox for all your music reviews and news.

After writing for a few different artists in the area, he decided to branch out and give local music the spotlight. That is where the idea for Music On The Rox originated from.
