Luke Bryan | Born Here Live Here Die Here – Album Review
Jerrett Franklin grew up in a small town. He moved…
Luke Bryan was born in Georgia in 1976. When he was 14, his folks bought him his first guitar, and a year later, he started sitting in with local bands for live shows. In the early fall of 2001, he relocated to Nashville, where he earned a contract with one of Nashville’s many publishing houses. Capitol released his first widely distributed album, “I’ll Stay Me” in 2007, and “Doin My Thing” in 2009. He returned with, “Tailgates and Tanlines,” in 2011. In 2013, he released his “Spring Break….Here to Party,” album. Later that year, he released “Crash My Party,” In 2015, he finished out his Spring Break series, with “Spring Break…Checkin’ Out.” Later that year, he released “Kill The Lights,” which is currently certified platinum. In the Fall of 2016, Bryan embarked on his third Farm Tour and released the EP, “Farm Tour: Here’s to the Farmer,” in honor of the event.
In September 2017, Luke Bryan was announced as one of the judges for a reboot of American Idol, rounding out a superstar panel that also featured Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. He returned for the 2019 season as well.
Luke has performed for nearly 12 million fans in the last ten years. He has more RIAA certified digital singles than any other country artist with 54 million digital singles, 12.5 million albums and Seven billion streams. He was recognized as a CMT Artist of the Year six straight times, was named the Entertainer of the Year by the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association twice. He was also honored as a NSAI Artist/Songwriter of the Year.
In total he has won over 40 music awards including six ACM awards, six CMT Music Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, four American Music Awards, two CMA awards, an iHeart and a Teen Choice award and more. He has four Platinum albums, two 4x-Platinum albums, seven RIAA certified albums, 22 Platinum singles and 12 Multi-Platinum singles.
He just released his latest full album, Born Here Live Here Die Here. After the success of “One Margarita,” this is a highly anticipated album. “One Margarita,” has over 27 million streams on Spotify alone.
This album is full of potential Country Radio hits. “Knockin Boots,””What She Wants Tonight,” and “Too Drunk to Drive,” are three standout tracks as well. Both are insanely fun songs and have a sexy side to them as well. His vocals sound really great here. He showcases a bit of a range in these as well. All three of these will be fun ones to perform live.
The title track, “Born Here Live Here Die Here,” is another strong addition to this album. This is a slow burn song that is basically a home town anthem. It is a really cool track and a nice ode to your hometown.
Next is “Build Me a Daddy.” This song is a great example of pure Country Music. The amazing thing with genuine Country Music, is that it tells a story. This song does a great job at telling this specific story. From the very beginning of the song, you can tell how much emotion he puts into the song. You can tell that he is feeling every word and every lyric. Unlike in some of his other songs, his voice just sounds extremely vulnerable, which is very appealing. This song will grip at your heartstrings and have you singing along with him.
Next up is “Little Less Broken,” This is a very touching song about moving on after a breakup. Or the challenges of moving on. This is one of my favorites off of the album because it has a 90’s sound to it and tells a really great story. The lyrics are very smart and his voice sounds great here as well.
After a sad song, it is natural to uplift your spirits with a fun song. That is where the next track, “For a Boat,” comes in. This is a song about memories on the water. Another song that stays close to its country roots by telling a story, which is what makes Country Music wonderful.
“I grew up pretty lucky / as far as lucky goes / Too broke for a boat.”
“Where Are We Goin,” is up next on Luke Bryan’s new album. This is a a genuine Country love song. Great message and a very catchy melody. The harmonies on this track are also beautiful as well.
“Where are we going? If this is love
There’s no way to know but just between the two of us
It all feels so right with you in my arms
Where it’s going, I don’t know, but let’s keep following our hearts”
“Down to One,” is last on this new album. This is a more Modern Country Song. It is also a love song that tells a story of two people falling in love.
“We were down to 1 AM
Listenin’ to one more song
Thinkin’ I want more than just one night out here with you alone”
All in all, this is a solid album by an already established Country Icon. Luke Bryan has already proven that he is not going anywhere and is just going to keep releasing hit after hit. If you are not already a fan, you will be after this album. Born Here Live Here Die Here is available at local retailers and available to stream on all major streaming platforms. Check it out below!
