Bailey Bomar is a pop-rock and alt-pop singer-songwriter from Springfield, Missouri, who grew up in a small town in the state. She has shaped her music alongside producer Mike Macdermid, who has worked with her across her releases, and her big, assertive voice has already won praise from outlets including Cage Riot and Illustrate Magazine.

The Search

Bomar wrote “The Search” years ago, before marriage and motherhood, back when she had no clear idea where her life was headed. It is a snapshot of that younger woman, the one wondering whether there was more out there than the small Missouri town she knew so well, and whether she had the nerve to go and find it. The song is not about reaching a particular place. It is about the act of looking, stepping away from home to work out who you are when nobody around you already has you figured out.

Musically, it puts its foot down. Rock guitars and a pounding rhythm section carry the song forward, pop hooks keep it catchy, and Bomar’s vocal sits right on top, full-throated and wide open, selling every bit of that itch to get out and go. You can practically feel the windows down and the town shrinking in the rearview mirror.

What makes it land now is the distance. Bomar is in a very different place today, and singing these words as a wife and mother adds an extra layer. She is not only chasing something new, she is looking back at the person who took that first leap, and anyone who has ever outgrown their hometown will hear a bit of themselves in it.

Final Thoughts

“The Search” is a big-hearted pop-rock single about taking a chance on yourself, and Bailey Bomar sings it like she still remembers exactly how that felt.
