CREEPS first came together in Brno, Czech Republic, back in 2004, when the members were still in school. After a long stretch away, the band came back in 2026 with a fresh run of singles, opening with “Two Against The World” before following up with “I Will Follow You.” That second single travelled further than anyone might have expected, picking up support from outlets and radio across Europe and the United States and finding a particularly warm welcome in Latin America, where the likes of Rockear in Colombia and SSROCK in Brazil got behind it.
Cry of the Banshee
“Cry of the Banshee” keeps that run going. The band file it under alternative rock and alternative metal, the same heavier, modern territory they have been working in since their return, and it arrives as a lean, focused single rather than anything sprawling. The title pulls from Irish folklore, where the wail of the banshee is said to warn that death is close by, which makes it a fitting choice for a band whose name already leans toward the dark side, and a well-timed one for a song arriving in the middle of October.
The music lives up to the name. Thick, guitar-first riffing gives the track its muscle, a brooding gloom hangs over everything, and the band pull from alternative rock, hard rock, and metal to get there. What keeps it from turning into a wall of noise is the songwriting. CREEPS make sure there is always a tune to grab onto, so the song hits hard without shutting out listeners who like their rock with a strong melodic spine.
It also rounds off a big year for a group that spent so long out of the spotlight. More than two decades after they started out, CREEPS are now reaching listeners an ocean away from home, and this new release hands that growing audience something fresh to sink their teeth into.
Final Thoughts
“Cry of the Banshee” keeps CREEPS moving forward at a steady clip, and with fans now spread across two continents, it should find plenty of open ears. If you missed them the first time around, now is a good time to catch up.
