Amanda Kate feat. Marty Raybon | “Old Rugged Cross”
Jerrett Franklin grew up in a small town. He moved…
You may remember that we featured Amanda Kate back in June with her single, “Healing When I Ride.” She is a Singer/Songwriter currently living in Orange County, California. In October 2019, she debuted her album, “Time.” She recently released the official video for her single, “Healing When I Ride.”
She teams up with Marty Raybon for their version of “Old Rugged Cross.” Marty has produced a remarkable list of career accomplishments including; multiple number one singles, top selling albums, CMA, ACM, IBMA, and Grammy Awards, along with scores of other accolades.
“The Old Rugged Cross,” is a classic gospel song that has been covered by a lot of different artists. With a classic like this, you have to really make it your own so that it will standout from the crowd. I do believe that Amanda and Marty have done that with their version. Amanda Kate’s voice is the breakout star in this song. Right off the beginning of the song, you are instantly hooked with her vocals. This one showcases her voice much more than her single, “Healing When I Ride.” Her range is seriously impressive. When Marty’s vocals kick in, there is a certain peace that cannot be contained. Their harmonies are absolutely beautiful. Both of their voices blend very well together.
All in all, this is another standout performance from Amanda Kate and Marty Raybon. They definitely released a memorable cover of an already classic song. If you are already a fan of Gospel Music, or “The Old Rugged Cross,” you should have this one on your playlist. Jerrett Franklin grew up in a small town. He moved to Nashville to pursue a music career. After writing for a few different artists in the area, he decided to branch out and give local music the spotlight. That is where the idea for Music On The Rox originated from. We are dedicated to shining a light on local music and giving a voice to those who aren’t being heard.
