Adam Wedd is a London-based singer-songwriter known for deeply personal storytelling, with music that’s earned play across more than 500 radio stations worldwide, including BBC6 Music, Absolute Radio, and SiriusXM, and praise from The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue and Heaven 17’s Martyn Ware. His debut album, Hangover Full of Memories, arrives with an unusually stubborn release strategy: Wedd is holding it back from streaming platforms entirely until 1,000 physical copies sell first, a genuinely rare move in a digital-first industry. New single “soar” is part of that record, and Wedd’s debut album headline show at London’s Cart & Horses on September 24th is close to selling out.

soar

“soar” began during a late-night shift at a South London recording studio, when Wedd found himself alone with a piano after everyone else had gone home. What came out was a tribute to his late friend Peter Holmes, someone Wedd has described as a kind, gentle presence who did real good in the world, including meaningful work with people in need around Kingston upon Thames. The song draws directly from their real shared history together, trips to Uganda, rehearsals in a church Peter had given Wedd the keys to, turning specific memory into something universal about what actually matters.

At its core, “soar” argues that genuine connection with the people you love outweighs money, status, or any of the usual markers of success, a theme that feels earned rather than sentimental given how personal the song’s origins are. Musically, it fits into the piano-ballad side of Wedd’s range, one piece of an album he’s described as a full emotional journey spanning piano ballads, protest songs, punk, and folk. The recording process brought together a genuinely accomplished team: Wedd tracked piano and vocals with engineer Marek Deml at McFly’s London studio, longtime friend and industry veteran Paul Tipler handled the mix at Unit 13 Studios, and Tom Hall mastered the track at Abbey Road Studios.

Final Thoughts

“soar” is a genuinely moving tribute that turns real grief and real memory into something quietly universal, and it’s a strong preview of an album built on substance over easy hooks. Wedd plans to tour the record across the UK and Europe in 2027 once physical sales hit that 1,000-copy mark. For more, visit adamwedd.bandcamp.com, or follow him on Instagram and Facebook.
