We are back with some new releases for our Top Notch Tuesday. Check out the tracks and reviews below!
Beat The System | “Axis”
Beat The System is a pop band from New York City. Founded in 2005 by brothers Gerald (drummer) and Stewart Sellan (guitarist), the pair decided to move from Malaysia to the States to pursue music full time. They are now joined by Adrian Puan (songwriter) and Shannon Gibbons (singer), a 2020 American Idol qualifier most known for her stunning audition of Etta James “I’d Rather Go Blind.” This is such a well done track. It is very energetic which is evident by the infectious instrumentals and the hardcore vocals. This is a very vocal forward track, which is smart, considering how strong they are. Definitely a standout performance. Make sure to add this one to your playlists.
Lucid Kidd | “Smooth Sailing”
Lucid Kidd is primed to introduce his music to the world. With buzzworthy tracks like “Baby” featuring Lil Skar and “452B” Kidd is confident in taking the step in his career. He just released a new track, “Smooth Sailing.” The new track is very well done. From the backing track, to the production, it is on point. The vocals are awesome too. He has such a good voice that almost demands your attention. All in all, it is a great performance that deserves to be added to your playlists.
Moli | “Crying In The Swimming Pool”
Moli just released a new track, “Crying in the Swimming Pool.” This track is easily one of my favorites this year. I absolutely love the retro vibe of the track. The instrumentals pair well with her vocals. She has one of those voices that you just want to hear more from. One of the strongest songs that I have reviewed this year. Make sure to add this one to your playlists.
Weston Estate | “Drown”
Weston Estate wants the world to know that they are definitively “ya aunty’s favorite boy band.” Named in jest for an affluent neighborhood adjacent to their hometown of Cary, North Carolina, the lo-fi, alt band is an alluring anomaly. The new single is really well done. The instrumentals and production are on point. Love the retro/funk vibe to it. Vocally, it is an impressive performance. Weston Estate is seriously talented and deserves to be on repeat. Make sure to give this one an add to your playlists.
Ásgeir | “Like I Am”
Ásgeir just released a new track, “Like I Am.” The new single is very compelling. It has more of an acoustic/indie vibe at the beginning. It is a chill vibe that puts the vocals at the forefront of the track. Vocally, it is really beautiful and fits in well with this genre. Such a mesmerizing performance that reels you in and never lets you go. Make sure to give this one an add to your playlists.
The Higher | “Elvis in Wonderland”
The Higher rode the wave of pop-rock stardom in the early 2000’s after sharing the stage with emo greats including Panic! At The Disco, Taking Back Sunday, Motion City Soundtrack, Silverstein, and more. Their unique brand of rock fused with a hint of groove landed their fan-favorite On Fire LP a #9 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers Charts, on heavy rotation on multiple MTV channels, and on the radar of top tastemakers including SPIN, Kerrang!, Fuse, and more. Now the Epitaph Records alumni are taking everything they know from the major stages of their early days to shine brighter than ever for their 2022 comeback. They are poised to share their first release since 2009, the Elvis In Wonderland EP coming out on October 14, 2022 via Secret Friends Music Group. The new track is really well done and very energetic. The vocals are absolutely stunning. They have a way of playing around with the vocals, all while never losing the energy of the track. It is really refreshing to see punk/pop music making a comeback. Make sure to add this one to your playlists.
After taking the world by storm with early hits such as ‘Legacy’ (with Krewella) and #1 single ‘I Could Be The One’ (with Avicii), Nicky Romero quickly proved that his talent is ever-evolving and here to stay. Nicky Romero and W&W just released a new, intense track, “Hot Summer Nights.” The production is on point. It is super energetic and even puts the vocals at the forefront, which is refreshing for EDM tracks. It is such a great song that will get you moving and ready to take on the day. Make sure to add this one to your playlists.
Landon Gamble | “DONTGO”
Toronto born singer/songwriter, Landon Gamble recently released a new track, “DONTGO.” This new single is extremely well done. The production and instrumentals are on point. His voice is something else though. Seriously, from his tone to his range, it is absolutely impressive. The way he plays around with his vocal abilities is admirable. Definitely one of my favorite releases this year. You will have this one on repeat for a while. Make sure to give this one an add to your playlists.
